Marge Lumi

Marge Lumi is a respected Estonian language trainer known for her active learning approach, which makes lessons engaging, practical, and student-centered. Thanks to this methodology, participants remain motivated, and absenteeism is rare.
Over the past three years, Marge has taught beginner and intermediate-level learners in Narva and Jõhvi. Her training experience includes projects by the Estonian Unemployment Insurance Fund (Töötukassa) and the Integration Foundation, where she has worked with both employed and unemployed adults – including many newcomers, especially recipients of temporary protection such as Ukrainian war refugees.
Her courses are conducted in classroom settings without the use of a base language, allowing learners with Russian and English backgrounds to study together. This unified method ensures equal learning opportunities for all. The lessons are built around practical activities that help learners acquire the language naturally and confidently.
Academically, Marge holds a master’s degree in Russian and Slavic Philology from the University of Tartu, with a minor in Estonian as a second language. She has further specialized in teaching Estonian without a base language and has been trained by top experts in the field – including Mall Pesti, the author of the textbook E nagu Eesti, and Marju Ilves and Leelo Kingisepp, authors of the Settle in Estonia A1 and A2 level textbooks.
In addition, Marge has completed a full module of business and public administration studies at Tallinn University, and has participated in entrepreneurship, marketing, and project training through Projektiteenus OÜ. Her knowledge spans economics, project management, sustainable entrepreneurship, and public administration. This diverse background enables her to integrate language teaching with entrepreneurship and project-based learning, while also incorporating terminology relevant to learners’ future careers.
